Ceramics and Frida

I have been exploring many different mediums and techniques around portraiture with Frida as my muse.

I recently took my pottery journey to the next level by buying a kiln and pottery wheel and setting up half of my studio for pottery.

I made some plates and a bowl and then painted a Frida Kahlo Portrait on them.

The Bowl had some carving on the sides and red glaze on the outside.

This plate was made from a mold. I used a stamp LOVE and then painted the portrait all with underglaze and glaze and then did a clear glaze on top.


The plate is also made from a mold and glazed with a last coat of clear. I wish I did not put clear glaze on top of the red and black glaze as they turned out to be lighter.

Dave's Sweater is Finally Done

Having had technical problems with my computer for a month or more. I have not been able to post or add photos. So long over due is a blog about finishing Dave's Sweater. I was originally going to to knit it as a Christmas gift but then I  became amgitious to finish  it for his birthday July 6th. So with hard work I did finish it. I was working right to the last day sewing the sides together and fixing any loose ends needing finishing. I am pleased with the results, although I do want to bring the sides under the arms as they are a bit wider than I think ideal. It has been fun knitting a whole sewater as lately I have been doing small projects. I did find it hard having to adjust to the pattern and custom fitting it to his body. For example his arms are long and I needed to make them longer than the pattern. But I know that it is a good learing experience as a pattern is not made for everyone exactly so you do need to make adjustment.

Flora series in process

Flora is a series of paintings inspired by my life on the Sunshine Coast and the rich beauty of its forests. The word flora refers to the plant life of a particular region, and in Roman mythology, Flora is the goddess of flowers and spring, a symbol of love, beauty, and abundance. The forest is where I feel most connected and inspired. Walking the trails with my dog, Juno, my husband, or with family and friends through places such as Cliff Gilker Park, Hidden Grove, and Smugglers Cove, I am continually drawn to the timeless, healing presence of moss, ferns, and towering trees. Their calm energy and majesty spark both wonder and creativity. I often pause to photograph mushrooms, fungi, flowers, mosses, and ferns along these walks, gathering visual notes for my work. Most of the pieces in Flora are acrylic on canvas. Art show at the Gibsons Public Market Summer 2025- Coastal and Creative Crone Series

 I have an art show currently at the Gibsons public market from mid June to mid August. I hope you get a chance to take a look while enjoying the market.  I have two series a the market. On the mail floor I have my coast series. “Going Coastal” Going coastal is a collection of some of my art works inspired by living on the Sunshine Coast   Living on the Sunshine Coast, we are lucky to have many beaches and viewpoints of the ocean. There are many water sports or walks where you get to bask in the beauty. I enjoy kayaking, outrigger paddling, swimming, walks on the beach and the harbours, beach days, reading on the beach, hunts for heart rocks and enjoying sunsets. These are truly my favorite things about living on the coast. I find just looking at the water can be healing.
